60 Euro entry fee?? You’ve got to be kidding me!
I don’t trust any competition with an entry fee.

I received this by email so I don’t know anything about the organization. But private funding is not big in Europe as the US.
All the saxophone performance competitions I know of in France had an entry fee.

Yeah, sounds a bit like the Music and Culture Competition – $25 entry, $200 top prize – Total Scam.

5000 euros is a nice reward! I could live on that for months over here.
Some of the rewards in our competitions were: a new saxophone (2000-3000 euros), a concert series, free music, reeds, cash. If you are into competitions, the awards and the prestige are sometimes worth it.
I don’t know what the deal is with Music competitions here. Is that why you guys are skeptical?

No, Ben, this isn’t like that one. and 5000 Euro is HUGE, but 60 Euro is too much for a lottery ticket. Also, performance competitions are a lot more involved than composition competitions. I always paid fees entering trumpet competitions as well.
